FREE EVENT: Frances Yip at Chinatown Point, Friday 13 Feb 2009, 1 pm

I'm probably showing my age here when I say this sounds interesting. The flyer says "be mesmerised by her nostalgic hits and witty on-stage banter", so I believe she's going to do a mini-concert. Hope so anyway. I haven't seen her sing/perform since I was a kid, and I'm really curious:

  1. Now, this event was a disappointment. When we got there at about a quarter to, we saw loads of people at the railings of the various floors. And it was obvious that some people had been sitting at outlets that have a view of the stage - Delifrance, MacDonald's, Subway - for quite a while.

And... Frances Yip sang only one song! It was more of an autograph session than anything else. Most people couldn't believe that that was the end of the performance section even after seeing Frances Yip start signing autographs up on stage. They were asking: She's going to sing some more later, right?

False advertising by the shopping centre, what a fiasco!

We would been really frustrated if we hadn't been planning a trip to the area anyway to buy more dried oysters (my mum bought dried oysters a few weeks ago from a shop near Hong Lim, liked them, and wanted to go back to buy more).

Frances Yip herself? She still looks great. And... her vocally, she's still got IT.
